Priding itself as the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean, Anguilla marries local and international culinary talents with fresh and locally sourced ingredients to create curated dining experiences at the Anguilla Culinary Experience from May 23rd to May 26th.
The epicurean journey begins at one of Anguilla’s top resorts with an opening night party that boasts a menu combining dishes from six of the resort’s top restaurants and inventive cocktails featuring ingredients from the resort’s onsite organic farm and hydroponic gardens. Over the next three days, sumptuous chef’s dinners, unique island experiences, a culinary cook-off, and multiple raffles with swanky prizes will be held.
Here are some highlights to look forward to at this Caribbean culinary event:
On Friday, James Beard Award-winning chef Zachary Engel of Michellin-starred Galit and chef Carrie Bogar will present a tasting menu merging Engel’s Middle Eastern flavors with Bogar’s Cuisine of the Sun. Each course of the bespoke menu will be paired with wine from vintner Grands Vins de France.
Saturday offers a chance for visitors to spend a night at the cabaret as local performers take the stage for Savor, Soirée & Sensation. Before the visual spectacle, visitors can feast on an East-Meets-West dinner from Chef Dario Schiavo, a celebration of Anguilla’s bountiful seafood and Schiavo’s Japanese and Italian influences.
On Sunday, guests are invited to a BBQ on the beach where they can watch a fiery cook-off between members of the Anguilla National Culinary Team as they take on a mystery basket cooking challenge. One lucky raffle winner will join the judges as a guest taster.
Between these exciting events, guests can enjoy other unique experiences such as learning how to make traditional Johnny Cakes, harvesting salt from a natural salt pond, or simply relaxing on one of the island’s 33 beaches and exploring Anguilla’s 35 square miles of magic.
